Transit calculator: what the sky is doing to you right now

A transit chart overlays the current sky onto your birth chart. Which planet is crossing which of your houses defines the subject of the period.

Calculate for freeTransit

Calculating transits means placing the current planetary positions over your birth chart. The sky is the same for everyone, but because everyone's houses differ the effect is entirely personal: Saturn in Pisces means something different depending on whether it is crossing your 6th or your 11th.

How long each transit lasts

  • Moon: two to two and a half days. Daily mood and small events.
  • Mercury, Venus, Mars: weeks. Communication, relationships, energy and initiative.
  • Jupiter: about a year per house. Expansion, opportunity, excess.
  • Saturn: two and a half to three years per house. Structure, testing, responsibility.
  • Uranus, Neptune, Pluto: years. Transformation at the level of identity.

Three questions when reading a transit

First: which of my houses is the planet crossing? That names the area of life. Second: which natal planet is it aspecting? That names who and what it touches. Third: which houses does this planet rule in my natal chart? That reveals the hidden link — a planet ruling your 7th ties relationships to money even while transiting your 2nd.

Void Moon and daily timing

For day-to-day transits the Moon is the fastest and most tangible marker. The house it is crossing sets the emotional focus of the day, and if it is void of course anything launched in that window tends to come to nothing. Those two facts alone sharpen daily planning.

Retrograde transits

When a planet retrogrades it crosses the same degree three times: the first pass opens the subject, the retrograde pass works it internally, the third pass resolves it. That is why the period when 'Saturn hit my square but nothing happened' usually finds its meaning on the third pass.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a birth time to calculate transits?

Planetary sign positions work without one, but knowing which house is being transited requires a birth time — and the house is where the real power of a transit reading lives.

Which transit is the most powerful?

Exact aspects from slow planets (Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto) to the natal Sun, Moon or ascendant leave the most lasting mark.

How early is a transit felt?

With slow planets it starts about 1 degree before exactitude, and during retrograde periods the effect can spread over a year.

Where can I track daily transits?

The AstroKolly homepage shows live daily transits calculated for your current city, the Moon's status, and where each planet sits in your houses.
