How a horary chart is read
The querent is represented by the 1st house and its ruler. The subject asked about takes its own house: work the 10th, love the 5th, marriage and partnership the 7th, money the 2nd, moving the 4th. An applying aspect between the two rulers points to yes; separating or no contact at all points to no. The Moon is always a second witness — its next aspect tells you where the matter is heading.
Conditions for a valid chart
- Ascendant under 3 degrees: the question is premature and not yet ripe.
- Ascendant over 27 degrees: the matter is already decided and the chart is not judged.
- Void of course Moon: 'nothing will come of it' — often the answer itself.
- Saturn in the 1st or 7th: the chart is considered corrupted and unreliable.
