New Moon and Full Moon: building an intention calendar
The house a lunation falls in tells you where to plant seeds and where to harvest that month.

Every month has a New Moon and a Full Moon. The New Moon is for sowing, the Full Moon is for harvest or letting go.
The New Moon ritual (the no-drama version)
- Check which sign the New Moon falls in, then find that sign in your own houses.
- Write three concrete intentions for that area — not wishes, actions.
- Take the first step within 48 hours.
At the Full Moon
- Read the opposite house too; a Full Moon always pulls on two areas at once.
- Don't suppress your emotional reaction, but sit on any decision for two days.
- Make a list of what's ending and actually close it.
The eight phases
- New Moon: seed, intention, beginning.
- Crescent: first resistance, the choice to continue.
- First quarter: crisis and action; the intention demands work.
- Gibbous: fine-tuning and correcting details.
- Full Moon: culmination, visibility, result.
- Disseminating: sharing, telling, teaching.
- Last quarter: review and the decision to release.
- Balsamic: rest and emptying before the next cycle.
A format that works for intentions
Write actions, not wishes. Instead of 'I want to earn more,' write 'I'll book meetings with two new clients.' A working New Moon intention is tied to the house the lunation falls in, is measurable, and has a first step you can take within forty-eight hours.
At the Full Moon
- Don't suppress the emotional reaction, but sit on decisions for two days.
- Read the opposite house too; a Full Moon always stretches two areas.
- Write down what's ending and actually close it: delete the thread, archive the file, have the conversation.
- Sleep suffers; closing screens early makes a real difference this week.
Tie it to your own chart
If the New Moon degree contacts one of your natal planets within three degrees, that month is yours. Without contact the cycle passes generically. You don't need to work every lunation at full intensity — three or four a year are personal.
The New Moon is a promise, the Full Moon is its invoice. The two weeks between are where the work happens.
